Job Description

HEAD START PROGRAM - COOK
Do you love cooking and want to make a difference in children's lives? PACE, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Cook to join our Head Start Program - where nutritious meals fuel learning, growth, and smiles every day! Our programs provide family-centered child development services for 200+ income-eligible families with children from birth to age 5 in the Greater New Bedford area. We believe that healthy meals are the foundation of a child's success. As our Cook, you'll prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for preschool children and staff, ensuring every meal meets federal and state nutrition guidelines. You'll play a vital role in creating a warm, healthy environment that supports children's development and well-being. We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills: Minimum of two (2) years of experience preparing meals for over 100+ children daily High School diploma or GED preferred Ability to work independently and manage food purchasing Knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices Must have school food service experience SERV Safe Certification (within 90 days of hiring) Valid driver's license required Physically able to lift up to 60 lbs., climb stairs, and stand/walk throughout the day Must meet state and federal credential requirements Ability to pass CORI and DCF background checks .
Compensation & Benefits:
$20.96 - $25.96/hour , plus $1.00/hour for dual language speakers 35 hours/week; 42 - 52 weeks/year Comprehensive benefits package including: Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays; low-cost health, dental, and vision insurance; no-cost life insurance.
