What You'll Do:
A Cook 2 requires good communication and culinary skills. The desired cook candidate will have hotel cooking experience and a culinary degree. The Cook 2 is an intermediate-level position in Culinary responsible for preparing food at the hotel's restaurants, main kitchens and pool deck processing customer orders, producing meals and cleaning their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. The Cook 2 follow recipes consistently, make adjustments based on customer requests, communicates with wait staff and prepare garnishes to make an attractive presentation for each meal. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods Present, garnish and arrange final dishes Occasionally serve food Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food in compliance with standards Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils Execute opening and closing procedures with minimal supervision Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment with minimal supervision Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of other people, such as wait-staff, dishwashers, management and guests Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating on complex dishes Check the quality and freshness of ingredients Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen Good physical stamina to stand and walk long distances throughout shift Prepare requisitions for supplies and food item Schedule availability to work weekends, and holidays, flexible to work varied AM, PM and mid shifts Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shifts Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage The position is seasonal until after Labor Day weekend, requires flexibility regarding availability and commitments with weekends and holidays and is part-time with hours up to 30 hours/week. This position's hourly rate is $22.51/hr. This role is eligible to earn overtime, shift differentials and premium pay under certain circumstances, tips, commissions, service charges, or incentive awards. Qualifications Qualifications Refined verbal communication skills. 2 years of previous line experience preferred. Culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred. Candidate should be able to perform all basic cooking skills. Able to work single station in the kitchen. A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
