Assistant Wok Cook (Cook II) Asian Burmese Kitchen Halethorpe, MD Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Apprenticeship | Internship From $16 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Teamwork FIFO Attention to detail Ability to follow instructions Kitchen stations Full Job Description Reports To Kitchen Manager/ Wok Lead Position Summary The Wok Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items quickly, consistently, and safely using wok stations and other kitchen equipment. This role requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining food quality and cleanliness standards. Monday to Sat. Sunday off. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and company standards Operate wok station efficiently during busy service periods Maintain proper food presentation, portioning, and quality Set up and stock station before each shift Ensure all ingredients are properly labeled, stored, and rotated (FIFO) Communicate effectively with kitchen team and front-of-house staff Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation at all times Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines Monitor food inventory and notify management of shortages Assist with prep work, cleaning, and kitchen closing duties Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and speed Qualifications Previous wok cooking or line cook experience preferred Ability to work in a high-volume kitchen environment Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Strong knife skills and cooking techniques Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Reliable attendance and punctuality Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays Above all, willing to work and Hungry to learn Skills & Abilities Fast-paced cooking execution Time management and multitasking Attention to detail Ability to follow recipes and instructions Team collaboration Clean and organized work habits Willing To learn Physical Requirements Standing for long periods of time Frequent lifting, bending, and reaching Ability to work in hot kitchen environments Ability to safely handle knives and kitchen equipment Work Environment Fast-paced commercial kitchen Exposure to heat, steam, and cooking equipment Requires adherence to uniform and safety standards Family Style Benefits (Optional) Competitive pay Family meal Growth opportunities Paid training Flexible scheduling
