In this role, you will prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for the children in our care each day. This is a Monday through Friday position, 7:30am-12:30pm, making it a perfect fit for someone looking for consistent morning hours. Our cook plays an important role in supporting the health and well-being of our children, and we take great pride in the quality of the meals we serve. If you enjoy cooking for a crowd, take food safety seriously, and love the idea of nourishing little ones every day, we'd love to meet you! Duties Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and morning snack for children and staff daily. Plan and follow approved menus in compliance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines. Maintain accurate meal counts, food production records, and required documentation for CACFP reporting. Follow all food safety and sanitation standards including proper food storage, temperature logs, and kitchen cleanliness. Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and individual children's needs as communicated by staff. Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize food waste. Clean and sanitize the kitchen, equipment, and food prep areas after each meal service. Communicate with the director regarding menu changes, supply needs, or food safety concerns. Qualifications Prior cooking or food service experience required; experience in a school, childcare, or institutional kitchen is a plus. Knowledge of food safety practices and proper sanitation procedures. Ability to follow standardized recipes and CACFP meal pattern requirements. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during meal prep and service. Ability to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions with care and attention to detail. ServSafe certification or Food Handler's permit preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state childcare licensing requirements. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
