Line Cook About Us Baba's Cafe is the brick-and-mortar realization of the award‑winning Baba's Hummus brand. Our modern, Middle Eastern café brings creamy Jerusalem‑style hummus bowls, brick‑oven mana'eesh, falafel, and specialty drinks to Minneapolis' vibrant Uptown neighborhood. Inspired by our Palestinian-American roots, we blend family recipes with playful Minneapolis flavor and design—a bright, mural-filled, welcoming space Position Overview As a Line Cook , you'll oversee food prep and line operations during a 20-30 hour weekly schedule.
You'll:
Prep ingredients, Manage kitchen stations through all services, ensuring quality, consistency, and speed. Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards. Assist in managing supporting staff, delegating tasks, training new cooks, and communicating with FOH team. Maintain efficient stock rotation, spoilage control, and ingredient inventory. Collaborate with management on workflow, menu adaptations, and kitchen improvements. Adapt to occasional rushes during peak hours or catering pickups.
Shifts:
Expect a combination of weekdays and weekends, daytime and evening hours. Flexibility is essential to meet the cafe operational needs. Key Responsibilities Execute recipes and prep procedures consistently Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dough ovens, grills, and cold prep stations. Monitor food quality and presentation standards. Provide guidance, train line staff, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Practice safe food handling and sanitation protocols. Contribute to positive team culture—supportive, energetic, aligned with Baba's fun and family‑forward values. Qualifications 2+ years experience in a commercial kitchen—line cooking or supervisory role preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, cross‑trained environment. Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance. Reliability and willingness to work varying shifts—including weekends and evenings.
