RESPONSIBILITIES
Menu planning for ( 2 ) meals a day, seven ( 7 ) days a week. ( May be in consultation with a dietitian. ) Purchase of foods required to prepare the weekly planned menus, from Pathway House approved suppliers. Review of menus and house count to determine type and quantities of foods to be purchased and prepared. Prepares, cooks, and serves lunch and dinner according to work schedule. Plans cooking schedule so that foods will be ready at specified times. Manage preparation, storage, and preservation of foods according to health standards. Maintain a sanitary food preparation and serving environment according to health standards. Inspection of foods and meats in storage for spoilage and maintain sanitary conditions of storage areas. Supervision / coordination of clients assigned to cooking/kitchen duties. Participation in staff meetings - educational or routine as required. Participation in kitchen meetings as needed. Report improper functioning equipment to the office / facilities manager. Offer recommendations for improvement of food service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of daily nutritional requirements. Ability to plan economical well - balanced menus. Ability to properly prepare, cook and attractively serve food. Ability to plan food quantities and purchase accordingly. Ability to supervise / coordinate others in the preparation and serving of foods. Ability to work with many types of personalities and set appropriate boundaries. Demonstrated competence through educational certificates and / or references.
SPECIAL FACTORS
Work schedule and meal times are adjusted to meet program needs. May on occasion be required to plan, prepare, and serve additional meals or snacks for special activities. Will be required to have a working knowledge of Health Standards required for food service licensure.
