Job Description

Job Overview The Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Missouri is seeking a passionate and dedicated cook to join our kitchen team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional food service and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Your enthusiasm for food preparation, menu planning, and serving will help create a warm, welcoming environment for the youth we serve. Whether you have experience in dietary departments, restaurant kitchens, or catering services, your expertise will be valued here. Duties Prepare and assemble meals according to established recipes, menu specifications, and federal funding guidelines ensuring consistency and quality. Assist with menu planning by suggesting creative ideas that meet dietary needs and preferences. Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, sanitation standards, and hygiene practices. Support food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing with knife skills, cooking, and cleaning. Serve meals to our youth members and staff with professionalism and courtesy, maintaining excellent customer service standards. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment to ensure compliance with health regulations. Skills Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable. Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly within a food industry setting. Knowledge of menu planning principles tailored to diverse dietary requirements. Excellent food handling skills with an emphasis on safety and sanitation practices. Experience working in restaurant environments or kitchens with a focus on food service. Demonstrated culinary skills, including knife proficiency and meal preparation. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in food safety standards. Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and serving youth and staff confidently. Experience working with youth is a bonus!
