Food preparation:
Follow the prep list to wash, chop, season, and portion food items like vegetables, meat, and sauces in advance of service.
Cook and assemble dishes:
Prepare and cook menu items for customers, following recipes and presentation guidelines from the head or sous chef.
Ensure food quality:
Maintain high standards for the quality, presentation, and consistency of all dishes.
Communicate and coordinate:
Work as part of a team with other kitchen staff and servers to ensure timely and accurate completion of orders.
Maintain sanitation:
Comply with all food safety and sanitation standards by handling food properly, cleaning and sanitizing workstations and equipment, and storing food items correctly.
Restock inventory:
Monitor inventory levels throughout a shift and restock as needed.
Close kitchen duties:
Complete all closing procedures for the kitchen station, including cleaning, sanitizing, and properly storing leftovers. Required skills and qualifications
Experience:
Prior experience as a cook, prep cook, or in a similar fast-paced kitchen setting is generally required.
Culinary knowledge:
Knowledge of cooking methods, knife skills, food preparation techniques, and an understanding of menu recipes.
Time management:
The ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Teamwork:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other kitchen and restaurant staff.
Attention to detail:
A keen eye for detail to ensure dishes are prepared and presented according to restaurant standards.
Physical stamina:
The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), and work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment.
