The Opportunity Moonlight Basin's culinary program is built on a commitment to warm hospitality and consistent excellence. Our handcrafted, distinctive restaurant concepts reflect the character of Big Sky, and our Line Cooks are at the heart of bringing that vision to life. As a Line Cook, you will work alongside our culinary leadership team to prepare and execute the highest quality dishes for our restaurant and banquet operations, ensuring every plate reflects the standards our members and guests expect. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare all food items according to menu specifications, recipes, and presentation standards in a timely and consistent manner Set up and break down workstations based on menu items, banquet event orders, and daily specials, ensuring all stations are ready prior to service Maintain a thorough understanding of guest expectations related to food quality and presentation, consistently striving to meet or exceed those expectations Inspect all food products to ensure proper appearance, freshness, color, and appeal before service Store all food items properly in labeled containers in refrigerators and freezers to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards Follow all sanitation, safety, and hygiene guidelines at all times Keep all kitchen work and storage areas clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety regulations Support the culinary team during high-volume service periods, banquets, and special events as needed Perform additional duties as assigned by culinary leadership Core Competencies Passion for food quality, presentation, and the guest experience Strong knife skills and proficiency with kitchen equipment Ability to follow recipes, take direction, and execute consistently Composure and efficiency in a high-energy, fast-paced environment Reliability, punctuality, and a strong team-oriented work ethic Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Minimum two years of cooking experience in a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club preferred Proficiency in culinary techniques including cutting, cooking principles, plate presentation, and proper sanitation practices Ability to safely and efficiently handle knives, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment including slicers, grinders, choppers, and mixers Ability to read and follow recipes and preparation instructions accurately Reliable, with the ability to work weekends and holidays as required during peak periods Must comply with Moonlight Basin's Dress and Grooming policies Benefits of Employment Competitive hourly wage End-of-season completion bonus Employee appreciation bonus Health, dental, and vision insurance Matching 401(k) with no vesting schedule Complimentary meal per shift Wellness program — applicable toward a Big Sky season ski pass or gym membership Retail store discount Employee housing available in Big Sky Free daily transportation to Moonlight Basin from employee housing and Bozeman Working Conditions This role is performed primarily in a kitchen environment with variable temperatures including hot and humid conditions near cooking equipment. Work hours vary by season and are dependent on restaurant and banquet operating schedules. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role. Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding role. Line Cooks must be able to: Stand and move for extended periods of up to 10 hours per shift Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly Bend, stoop, reach, and kneel to perform kitchen tasks Perform repetitive motions including chopping, stirring, and plating with precision Work safely in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments Navigate kitchen spaces including tight workspaces and potentially slippery floors Communicate clearly and hear spoken information in a busy kitchen setting Taste and smell food products to ensure quality and consistency
