Job Description

Prep Cook La Vita Dolce Chapel Hill, NC Job Details Part-time $17 - $18 an hour 3 days ago Qualifications Food waste mitigation Recipe adherence Pre-cooking preparation Teamwork Management Kitchen management Full Job Description Seeking a motivated part-time Prep Cook at La Vita Dolce, an award-winning all-day cafe in the Southern Village community of Chapel Hill! La Vita Dolce is a soon to expand all-day cafe and evening bar that serves quick-order fare, primarily sandwiches, salads, and a limited selection of bar snacks alongside our specialty coffee, made-in-house gelato, and bar programs. In June we are moving to a new, larger space with a full kitchen and are hiring a Prep Cook, to help implement a new made-in-house food program. The Prep Cook will prepare, alongside our Prep Lead, all made-in-house ingredients. Duties include cooking proteins, making aiolis and dressings, washing and storing produce, making coffee syrups, and portioning. Our food menu is small and simple so that everything can be executed extremely consistently and with excellent quality. You will occasionally make food to order at high-volume food-heavy events (approx. 4-5 hours per week), but your primary job is overseeing food preparation, inventory, and organization, and managing one part-time Prep Cook. Food prep goals are to set the cafe up for quick pickup times, high quality and consistent fare, and to minimize waste. You will work 4-5 days per week, mostly during the day (on Wednesdays in the spring through fall, you may make and oversee food served at our Wine Down Wednesday event, which is 5p to 8p in the evening). Attitude is critical and applicants must be able to carefully follow recipes, and clearly communicate with the Cafe Manager and Prep Lead. We've worked hard to build a positive, team-oriented culture and are seeking a Cook who will help us contribute to this environment as we continue to grow as a team and a business. At least 2 years experience as a professional cook is required.
