Cook (Part-time) The Servant Center - 3.1 Greensboro, NC Job Details Part-time $15 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Food production ServSafe Sanitation Cooking High school diploma or GED Meal preparation Full Job Description Job purpose The Servant Center's Cook prepares nutritious meals for residents in The Servant Center's Homeless Programs. Essential Functions
  • Prepare menus; prepare meals accordingly.
  • Obtain necessary food from Second Harvest Food Bank, local grocery stores and donations.
  • Prepare food to health standards, monitor the health codes of the kitchen.
  • Assure that there is water and other snacks available in the dining room for residents in between meals and after hours.
  • Ensure that the kitchen and dining room are kept clean for Health Department and VA inspections.
  • Ensure that all appliances are kept clean; report any problems to the Facilities Manager as soon as possible.
  • Monitor residents in the kitchen and dining room areas to ensure that chores are completed; report any discrepancies to the Director of Housing Services.
  • Work with volunteers who wish to assist in the kitchen.
  • Work with other kitchen staff to ensure quality performance and consistency in meal preparation, kitchen cleanliness, etc.
  • Maintain all necessary logs required by the Health Department and Veterans Administration.
  • Must be able to work at least two weekends a month. This description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Qualifications
  • 2 years of cooking in a commercial kitchen
  • Skill to prepare large quantity meals with minimal waste
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • ServSafe Certified
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Experience working around vulnerable populations is desirable
  • Skill to establish cooperative working relationships with staff, residents, and volunteers Working Conditions
  • All work is performed in a commercial kitchen.
Physical Requirements Requires frequent standing for long periods and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
