Orchard Park Assisted Living Job Description:
The Cook at Orchard Park Assisted Living plays an important role in preparing and serving meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. This position is responsible for following established menus, preparing food in a safe and sanitary manner, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for residents. The Cook works closely with the Dietary Manager and other dietary team members to provide high-quality, resident-centered meal service.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation & Service Prepare meals and snacks according to the planned menu and dietary guidelines. Ensure food is cooked and presented properly and served at the appropriate temperature. Assist in serving meals to residents as needed. Accommodate special dietary needs, such as texture modifications, allergies, or preferences. Sanitation & Food Safety Follow proper food handling procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and food prep area. Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are sanitized and maintained properly. Label and store food according to safety standards. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Dietary Manager and team to ensure smooth meal operations. Communicate any supply needs, food shortages, or equipment concerns to the Dietary Manager. Help maintain a positive, respectful environment for both residents and coworkers. Other Duties Assist with inventory and restocking of supplies. Support special events or themed meals as needed. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Assistant Administrator.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior cooking experience in a healthcare, senior living, or commercial kitchen setting is preferred. Knowledge of basic nutrition, food safety, and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Must be dependable, organized, and respectful in working with elderly residents.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for long periods during meal preparation and service. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform repetitive tasks such as stirring, chopping, and lifting trays. Ability to work in hot kitchen conditions and around kitchen equipment.

Scheduling Requirements:
This part-time position is scheduled for approximately 16-24 hours per week. Open availability, including weekdays and weekends, is required. Typical shifts are between 1:00 PM-7:00 PM or 3:00 PM-7:00 PM; however, schedules may vary based on operational needs and staffing requirements. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed. Must be reliable and able to maintain consistent attendance.
