Job Description

Come cook where food means something. Barn & Thistle is an eatery and gift shoppe on Route 63 in Westmoreland, NH, set on a property that has been feeding and gathering this community since 1839, first as a tavern, then a hotel, then the village store. We carry that history forward with a simple belief: food is more than nourishment. It creates memories, brings comfort, and forms connection. We're looking for a cook, but not just a cook. We're looking for a culinary creative: someone who genuinely loves food, loves making it, and cares as much about how a plate looks as how it tastes. Our menu runs from hearty breakfasts with local maple syrup to sandwiches and salads built around fresh, seasonal ingredients. We want someone who sees that menu as a living thing, who walks in with ideas, notices what's in season, and takes pride in sending out food that makes people pause before they pick up a fork. This is a creative team, not a brigade. Ideas move fast here, and good ones land on the menu. What you'll do: Cook breakfast and lunch service alongside a small, collaborative team Bring fresh ideas to the menu: seasonal specials, new dishes, better versions of old favorites Plate with intention. Presentation matters here, and you'll have room to make it yours Keep quality, freshness, and food safety as second nature, not a checklist Help shape what Barn & Thistle's kitchen becomes as we grow into something bigger Who you are: An experienced cook with real range, comfortable on a line and comfortable improvising Someone with a genuine grasp of healthy, fresh, seasonal cooking A person with an eye: you understand that we eat with our eyes first Reliable, steady under a breakfast rush, and easy to work beside Energized by a small creative team where your contributions are visible and valued Come be part of a kitchen with nearly two centuries of stories in its walls, and help us write the next one.
Job Type:
Part-time Expected hours: 12-28 per week (3-7 hours a day, 4 days a week)
Schedule:
Day shift, no evenings (kitchen closes at 2pm)
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
