Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Lead Cook prepares food, and dessert items and directly oversees all food production for service to patients, staff and visitors. The Lead Cook provides supervision and coordination of dietary staff to maintain high standards of quality food production, safety, sanitation and service in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Summit Oaks Hospital. Responsible for the department operations during the Directors absence.

Education:
High School Graduate/GED -
Preferred Experience:
3-5 years of relevant experience Serv Safe Certification -
Required Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
Responsible for timely preparation of meals and oversight of all food production for scheduled meal periods . Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Plans, directs, and coordinates the Dietary Department to provide Food Service for all residents and staff. Performs purchasing, receiving, storage, food production according to departmental standards. Coordinates menu planning for special functions and parties. Complete set up and carry through of special functions. Supervises cooks and food service workers. Trains and directs employees using in-service training, on the job training and provide opportunity for employee's advancement continuing education programs. Assists with evaluation to ensure competency. Ensures all special diets are prepared and served correctly. Demonstrates excellent customer service as evidenced by supportive and helpful behavior. Shows courtesy, compassion, sensitivity and respect in interactions with patients, visitors and other staff. Assists the Director to ensure compliance with attendance and scheduling policy is met by other staff in the department.
