Job Description
Hot Food Bar Lead/Cook Levittown, NY The Hot Bar Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hot bar, ensuring all food is prepared, presented, and maintained to the highest quality standards. This role plays a key part in leading the team, executing production plans, maintaining food safety compliance, and driving profitability through efficient product usage and waste reduction. (This position will train at one of our local stores until our new store opens). Key Responsibilities Oversee and execute daily hot bar production in alignment with established recipes and menu plansEnsure consistency through proper portioning and strict adherence to recipesManage team schedules and assign labor to ensure optimal coverage during peak service timesPlan and organize production for current and upcoming menu items with a focus on freshness and efficiencyMaximize profitability by effectively utilizing ingredients and minimizing waste and shrinkMaintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with all health regulationsRegularly monitor and log food temperatures to meet company and regulatory requirementsUtilize compliance systems (such as Plumsense) to track and maintain operational standardsEnsure the hot bar is fully stocked, visually appealing, and properly maintained throughout serviceOversee timely replenishment of all hot bar items to maintain presentation and availabilityTrack, analyze, and manage shrink to improve overall inventory performanceRemain highly organized and focused during high-volume periods, ensuring smooth team coordinationSupport additional kitchen operations, including food prep, inventory, and cross-trainingCommunicate effectively with a diverse team, including English- and Spanish-speaking team membersPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required2-3 years of experience in a culinary or food service leadership role, preferably in a retail or market environmentStrong knowledge of hot food preparation and culinary techniquesDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a teamFamiliarity with food safety practices and temperature monitoring systems (e.g., Plumsense)ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferredBilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plusAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak business hours What We Offer Competitive payFlexible schedulingMedical, Dental, and Vision (for eligible employees)401(k) Plan50% Lunch Discount25% In-Store Shopping DiscountOpportunities for growth within the company Working Conditions Frequent standing and movement on hard surfaces for extended periodsRegular bending, lifting, reaching, and other physical activityAbility to lift up to 30 pounds independently and heavier items with assistanceWork performed in a busy kitchen environment with exposure to equipment, noise, and temperature variations (ovens, coolers, freezers)Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals
