Summer Camp Cook

Job Overview Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Cook, where you will play a vital role in creating a fun, nourishing, and safe dining experience for our campers and staff. You'll be responsible for preparing delicious meals that cater to diverse dietary needs, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and supporting the overall camp experience with your culinary expertise. A private room with a shared bathroom is provided on our campus. Transportation can be arranged from NYC or other local hubs if relocating for the summer. Responsibilities Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with planned menus and dietary guidelines Assist with menu planning to accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences Handle food preparation tasks including chopping, mixing, portioning, and plating with precision and care Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all stages of food handling and preparation Support kitchen operations by cleaning utensils, dishes, countertops, and cooking equipment regularly Serve meals in a friendly, efficient manner that encourages positive camp community interactions Follow all health department regulations and camp policies to ensure a safe dining environment for everyone Experience Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred, especially in settings involving children or large groups Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within the food industry or restaurant environment Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering services is highly desirable Demonstrated knowledge of food safety protocols and proper knife skills for efficient food prep Familiarity with fine dining or restaurant experience can enhance your ability to deliver quality meals under pressure Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail Passion for providing excellent food service with a focus on healthful eating and safety standards
