Reports To:
Head Chef Role Summary:
We are seeking a thoughtful, skilled, and collaborative Line Cook to join our culinary team. At Hilltown Commons, dining is an integral part of the guest experience. Our kitchen prepares nourishing, high-quality meals that have become a highlight of our guest experience. Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation & Execution:
Prepare, season, and cook a diverse rotation of menu items for buffet-style or plated service, ensuring high standards of taste, temperature, and presentation.
Dietary Accommodations:
Accurately and safely prepare specialized meals to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-specific restrictions.
Station Management:
Set up, stock, and break down culinary stations. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace throughout your shift in compliance with local health department regulations.
Food Safety & Quality:
Follow proper food handling, storage (FIFO), and temperature logging procedures. Monitor ingredient freshness and assist with inventory management.
Community & Collaboration:
Work closely with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth, timely meal service. Maintain a calm, respectful demeanor that reflects the peaceful atmosphere of our center (campus?). "

Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a line cook, prep cook, or caterer. Experience in high-volume scratch cooking, retreat centers, or summer camps is a plus.
Dietary Knowledge:
Familiarity with vegetarian and vegan cooking techniques, as well as a solid understanding of cross-contamination prevention for food allergies.
Technical Skills:
Proficient knife skills and comfortable operating standard commercial kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, steamers, slicers).
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and move for extended periods (8+ hours), lift up to 50 lbs, and work safely in a hot kitchen environment.
Certifications:
Active ServSafe Food Handler or Manager certification (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
Schedule Flexibility:
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on guest bookings.
