Job Description

At Price Hill Chili, the person running the fryers and the steam table holds one of the most critical, fast-paced roles in the kitchen, this job is all about speed, precision, and building the iconic dishes that locals love. What is to be expected 1. Mastering the Steam Table (The Core Duty) The steam table is the heart of the restaurant. You are responsible for keeping the bulk ingredients—the chili, the spaghetti, and the hot dogs—at perfect, safe holding temperatures. Building the
Icons:
You have to construct the classic menu items flawlessly and instantly upon receiving an order. You'll be slinging:
Ways:
Laying down a bed of steaming spaghetti, ladling the perfect amount of Cincinnati chili, and optionally topping it with beans and/or onions.
Coneys:
Plumping hot dogs in steamed buns, adding a swipe of mustard, a splash of chili, finely chopped onions, and of course the Cheese. 2. Managing the Fryers While the steam table handles the chili classics, the fryers are your secondary command center. You are responsible for drop times, shaking the baskets, and ensuring everything comes out perfectly golden and crispy.
The Fried Menu:
You'll be frying up French fries (often for chili cheese fries), chicken tenders, onion rings, and several other items.
Timing Coordination:
You have to time the fryers perfectly so that a basket of fries finishes right as the matching Coney or 3-Way is completed at the steam table, ensuring the entire order goes out hot to the customer. 3. Other ingredients The freezer for all fryer items also contains items that need to be used by the other stations, you will be responsible for handing these ingredients off to the other cooks as well.
These items include:
1/4 lb burgers,1/2 lb burgers, steak hoagies, and gyro meat slices. 4.
Pace, Prep, and Maintenance Extreme Speed:
Cincinnati chili is essentially regional fast-food/casual dining. Orders are expected to be put together in under a couple minutes. When a rush hits, you need to have a rhythm—grabbing buns, ladling chili, and grabbing cheese in one fluid motion.
Station Restocking:
You have to constantly monitor your levels. If you run low on spaghetti, hot dogs, chopped onions, or that mountain of cheese, the whole line grinds to a halt. You'll be calling for backups from the team or grabbing them yourself.
Cleanliness and Safety:
Because steam tables involve wet heat and fryers involve hot oil, maintaining a clean station is vital. You'll be wiping down edges, clearing stray cheese, skimming the fryers, and monitoring food temperatures to ensure health code compliance.
