Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Cook at Atoka County Medical Center is responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to dietary guidelines and ensuring food safety standards are met. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing the overall patient care experience and supporting the health and well-being of all individuals within the facility.Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary requirements, ensuring consistency and quality. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations. Monitor food inventory and assist in ordering supplies to ensure adequate stock levels. Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare professionals to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions. Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items to prevent spoilage and contamination. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance as needed. Assist in menu planning and contribute ideas for new recipes and meal options. Train and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to maintain high standards of food preparation. Respond to feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve meal satisfaction. Participate in regular kitchen audits and inspections to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.Required Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare setting or similar environment. Experience with menu planning and food preparation in accordance with dietary guidelines and restrictions.Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in cooking techniques and food safety regulations. Ability to prepare meals that meet nutritional standards and dietary requirements. Strong organizational skills to manage kitchen operations efficiently. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare staff and understand patient dietary needs. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of inventory management and ability to order supplies as needed.
