About the Concept Join the opening team of Fort Washington's newest culinary destination the Academy Grill. Led by a team of passionate hospitality professionals, we are launching a white-tablecloth experience centered on a coastal-inspired fine dining menu that leans heavily into upscale Italian-American and seafood-forward influences. It balances high-end raw bar staples with sophisticated, house-made pastas and composed entrees. We value creativity, precision, and a collaborative "backyard" fellowship where every guest experience is memorable. What We Are Looking For We are seeking dedicated and professional cooks who thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. You should have a deep respect for ingredients and a commitment to flawless execution.
Experience:
1-3 years in a fine dining or upscale-casual environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods (sauté, grill, roast). Experience with live fire or specialty stations is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication (using "Heard!", "Behind!"), punctuality, and a "clean-as-you-go" mentality.
Physicality:
Ability to stand for 8+ hours and lift to 50 lbs. Core Responsibilities Mise en
Place:
Execute precise daily prep, including butchery, sauce work, and vegetable fabrication.
Service Execution:
Manage a specific station (e.g., Sauté, Grill, Pasta) with speed and accuracy during peak service.
Quality Control:
Ensure every dish meets the Executive Chef's specifications for flavor, temperature, and presentation.
Collaboration:
Coordinate timing with other stations to ensure simultaneous plating for every table.
