Job Type:

Seasonal Full Time preferred, part time may be available Assist in the preparation, serving, and cleaning up of all meals for campers and staff during the summer program

Qualifications:

Serve Safe Food Hander (required or willingness to obtain) Previous experience cooking large quantities and ability to follow recipes when appropriate Understand and utilize Food Safety skills including labeling foods properly, understanding special diets, following temperature procedures and cleaning cooking/prepping areas as required Ability to operate commercial kitchen appliances in a safe manner Ability to stand for extended periods of time CPR and First Aid Certification (Required or willingness to obtain) Minimum 18 years of age Previous experience working with elementary to high school aged children prefered Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds Ability to see and hear the entire kitchen and dining hall environment Ability to travel over rough and rocky ground Ability to use computer and phone Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Responsibilities:

Work together with other cooks to complete all meal preparations and dining hall operations Be prepared to take responsibility for meal/snack preparation if required and ensure their readiness in accordance with the scheduled meal/snack times. Assist with delivery intakes and inventories Assist with dish washing and empty trash as needed Prepare and deliver all scheduled meals on time following all SERV Safe requirements and guidelines Ensure the dining hall is clean and ready for each meal service Follow all sanitary and anti-bacterial guidelines in the kitchen area regarding hand washing, counter and cookware cleanliness and head/facial hair Ensure all water containers are full and ready for each meal service Assist with kitchen cleaning and organization Attend staff meetings At all times demonstrate behavior consistent with the YMCA's Core Values and the goals of YCRC.
