As a Dietary Aide / Cook, you'll help create a positive dining experience for residents by preparing, cooking, and serving meals that are safe, nutritious, and made with heart. You'll work closely with residents, families, and staff to support comfort, dignity, and well‑being — every single day. What You'll Do Prepare and Cook Meals following menus, diet plans, recipes, portion guidelines, and food‑safety standards Serve Therapeutic & Special Diets tailored to individual resident needs Run the Tray Line ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper presentation Manage Food & Supplies including labeling, rotation, receiving, and storage Follow Sanitation & Safety Protocols including infection control and universal precautions Clean & Maintain Kitchen Areas to keep the environment safe and hygienic Support Dietary Staff with guidance during orientation and in‑service training Process Diet Changes to ensure accuracy and compliance Respond to Resident Needs courteously and promptly Observe & Report Resident Changes including incidents or behavioral changes Uphold Resident Rights with kindness, dignity, and respect Maintain Documentation according to community standards Support AM & PM Operations including early‑morning cook shifts and weekends What You Bring Clear, professional verbal communication Ability to read, write, and document in English Reliability, honesty, and strong work ethic Warm, caring, and respectful interactions with residents Ability to work cooperatively with staff across departments Emotional resilience and patience in a resident‑focused setting Comfort working with elderly, ill, or occasionally upset individuals Customer‑service mindset with courtesy and responsiveness Basic food‑safety knowledge and safe handling practices Experience or ability in food prep, cooking, and meal assembly Ability to perform line‑cook and tray‑line duties efficiently Preferred Experience & Additional Strengths Prior experience in healthcare or institutional food service Familiarity with therapeutic and special diets Experience with inventory, receiving, and storage Understanding of sanitation and infection control in a kitchen setting Strong attention to detail with menus, recipes, and diet orders Flexibility to work AM, PM, and weekend shifts Ability to adapt to changing resident needs and dietary updates Why You'll Love Working Here You'll join a mission‑driven community that values dignity, respect, and compassionate service.

Expect:
Standing for extended periods Working around hot equipment Handling food, cleaning supplies, and kitchen tools Following strict safety, sanitation, and infection‑control procedures AM shifts (approx. 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. ) PM shifts (approx. 11:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. ) Some cook shifts starting as early as 5:30 a.m. Required weekend availability Uniforms, non‑slip footwear, and adherence to community policies (HIPAA, Safety, Infection Control, Code of Conduct) are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
