Job Description

Position Summary The Food Service Cook I supports the Food Service Manager in planning menus, preparing, and serving food for YWCA York and Camp Cann-Edi-On in accordance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The Food Service Cook I is also responsible for maintaining a clean work area that complies with food service regulations. All YWCA York staff are expected to be dedicated to creating a diverse, fair, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace environment, helping the YWCA achieve its goals of ending racism and empowering women. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create balanced menus according to CACFP guidelines and post them as required. Food preparation and distribution for children, staff, and campers. Comply with special dietary requirements. Assist with delivering off-site foods, room meals, and stocking supplies as needed. Receive, organize, and rotate vendor deliveries and inventory as needed. Responsible for washing dishes related to food preparation and serving according to regulations. Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment, including sinks, countertops, stovetops, equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash, etc. Must maintain ServSafe Certification. Supervise the Camp Can-Edi-On kitchen area during the day camp summer program. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current ServSafe Certification or willingness to fulfill the requirements to obtain a ServSafe Certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and ability to prepare meals compliant with the Child and Adult Care Food Program standards. Follows safety and security procedures Adjusts to changes in the work environment. Shift Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Averages 30 hours per week during the school year (mid-August through mid-June) Averages 40 hours per week during the summer months (mid-June through mid-August)
