Job Description

Summary of Duties:
Cook Job Corps is a residential education and job training Program for students 16-24 years of age. The school has about 203 students who are preparing for careers in a variety of fields such as welding, construction, business, and health. Unlike traditional post-secondary programs, which start and graduate on a semester basis, Job Corps Center students can enroll or graduate throughout the year.
Function:
Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data. Supervises Food Services staff during assigned shifts in the absence of management staff. Oversees food serving, dining room activities, and student conduct. Prepares food by planned menu. Prepares food in sufficient quantities and with adequate care to meet students nutritional needs and health standards. Carries out instructions given orally or in writing . Makes recipe calculations involving fractions and percentages. Utilizes production Schedule to minimize waste and to prepare sufficient quantities of food Stores and properly disposes of food. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load to ask for necessary assistance. Cleans kitchen area, equipment, and cafeteria to ensure sanitation and cleanliness of all food service areas and w•rapping, date-labeling, and storing food items . • Cleans and organizes work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station. Follows guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control . Serves students in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner. Provide students with information regarding food ingredients. Escalating student concerns and complaints to management, complying with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures. Prepare dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations . Supervise students assigned to center work support in the cafeteria. Clean machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, pans, mixers, unloading and storing deliveries. Sweeping and mopping floors, especially if items are broken or spilled. Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage cans. Supporting other cafeteria staff members by assisting with cleaning, prepping, and cooking tasks . Provides positive role modeling through interaction with students and staff by exhibiting appropriate employability, social and life skills. Holds fellow employees and students accountable for modeling appropriate behavior. Utilizes formal and informal opportunities to mentor students and staff through Center student programs and staff developmentprograms . Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
