Job Description

Peaceful Pines Senior Living is committed to providing exceptional care and service with compassion. Our community offers a total of 60 independent living units, 29 assisted living units, and 32 memory care units located in the beautiful Black Hills. Peaceful Pines Senior Living is searching for 2 cooks. This position will be responsible for providing nutritious, freshly prepared meals and snacks to residents daily. The cook will provide support in food handling and service, maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen, and ensuring high quality standards for each meal. The cook will report to the kitchen manager and agrees to comply with and perform the duties and responsibilities as described below. In addition, this position may be asked to perform functions not listed below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE
Prepare meals per planned menus and standardized recipes in compliance with all applicable food preparation regulations and guidelines. Prepare a sufficient quantity of food to meet resident needs, ensure food is served at the proper temperature, and maintain an attractive appearance and appealing taste. Prepare meals in accordance with residents' therapeutic diets and textures (diabetic, heart healthy, mechanical soft, pureed, thickened liquids, etc.) Assist in cleaning cooking areas and other kitchen equipment. Complete daily cleaning duties and checklists. Maintain proper sanitation and safety in food preparation areas. Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food for infection control. Keep refrigerator and freezer clean and orderly (date all items and monitor dates). Keep all opened food in sealed airtight containers (flour, sugar, etc.) and discard per regulation. Maintain a log of food temperatures, as well as temperatures of refrigerators and freezers. Assist in the inventory, ordering, and unpacking of food and supplies as directed. Prepare ala carte food items as requested by residents. Attend instructional seminars/courses and staff meetings. Perform all duties in accordance to Serve-Safe guidelines and South Dakota Department of Health requirements. Adhere to the Registered Dietician's guidance. All other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of basic cooking skills, standards of food preparation, and serving procedures. Ability to read and follow directions in recipes, menus, etc. Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
HOURS:
5 days per week with rotating weekends and holidays; 10:00 AM
  • 7:30 PM 2 day shifts (6:00 AM
  • 2:30 PM), 2 evening shifts (10:00 AM
  • 7:30 PM), and 1 prep shift (7:00 AM
