Retirement Plan Cafeteria Plan Workers Compensation Class Summary:
Under general supervision of the Food Manager, plans meals, and prepares, cooks, and serves food at a Juvenile Detention Facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares and serves quality food for juveniles in detention. Prepares menus and ensures compliance with standards and recommendations of the American Dietetic Association and National School Lunch Program. Maintains necessary paperwork to be in compliance with the National School Lunch Program. Maintains a clean, safe and hazard free kitchen. Maintains inventory of food purchases and equipment; receives food from vendors, inspects quality and quantity of food delivered. Maintains regular and punctual attendance, reporting to work as scheduled and prepared to perform assigned duties. Act in the absence of the Food Service Coordinator.
Additional Duties:
Complies with the policies and procedures of the facility. Attends meetings and training sessions; performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Ability to prepare cost effective meals and menus for a juvenile population that varies daily; operate commercial kitchen equipment, including stove, oven, and dishwasher. Should have knowledge of the National School Lunch Program requirements and have good processing, and communication skills. Must be able to work well with others. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements and Work Setting:
Periods of walking, standing, carrying, bending, and reaching; periodic lifting up to 50lbs; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required. Education and/or
Experience Required:
Experience in food service preparation within a residential, institutional, or educational setting. Must have a valid Driver's License and good driving record. A background check will be performed.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must have current Food Manager's Certification or successfully complete an accredited Food Manager's course within 45 days of employment. This document is based on the job description(s) for positions in this classification and is maintained by the TGC Human Resources Department.
