Job Description

The Production Cook is responsible for preparing and managing ingredients for kettle-based production runs. This position operates and monitors cooking equipment, follows established recipes, and ensures products are manufactured to the highest quality and food safety standards. The Production Cook plays a key role in coordinating cook schedules, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting overall plant efficiency. Works closely with Production Operators, warehouse staff, and manager(s) to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production runs.

Full-Time, Hourly Job Requirements These are non-negotiable responsibilities performed on a regular basis. Performance will be evaluated based on these responsibilities and other assigned duties. 1. Cooking & Production Operations Operate and tend cooking equipment, including kettles and cooking vats, to prepare products according to established recipes. Evaluate and inspect manufacturing equipment prior to production runs to ensure readiness. Follow recipes precisely to maintain consistency, quality, and food safety standards. Ensure required ingredients and materials are available prior to and during the cook. Coordinate cook order and timing based on production schedules and product requirements. Collaborate with the Production Manager regarding run times and scheduling. 2. Quality & Food Safety Ensure all products meet company quality standards. Follow all safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Monitor batch integrity, ingredient accuracy, and finished product consistency. 3. Equipment Monitoring & Troubleshooting Inspect machinery during operation and report any faults to management. Identify equipment issues and troubleshoot minor problems when possible. Communicate maintenance needs promptly to prevent downtime. 4. Team Support & Training Provide guidance and training to team members working alongside you during production runs. Promote teamwork and effective communication within the production environment. 5. Other Duties Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management to support successful plant operations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum two (2) years of manufacturing experience required. Manufacturing maintenance and basic electrical experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers in a team environment. Additional Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Ability to lift or move 50+ lbs unassisted. Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods. Ability to work comfortably in a hot production environment. Ability to work Thursday through Saturday, 12-hour shifts, with overtime as required on Sundays and/or other days as needed.
