This position is responsible for food preparation, cooking, plating, maintaining food quality standards, stocking stations, and keeping a clean and organized work area while serving guests efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience preparing soul food favorites such as fried chicken, fish, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, and other Southern specialties, works well under pressure, follows food safety and sanitation guidelines, and is a team player with a positive attitude. Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work flexible hours including weekends and special events. We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing great food and delivering an excellent customer experience. Duties Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and standards Assist in menu planning by preparing components for daily specials and regular offerings Handle food with care, ensuring proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed at all times Cook a variety of menu items with precision, including grilling, sautéing, baking, and plating Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including equipment and storage areas Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality standards Serve dishes efficiently during peak hours, ensuring timely delivery to guests or dining areas Skills Proven experience in food handling, cooking, or kitchen roles within restaurants or the food industry Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques Knowledge of dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience is a plus Ability to follow recipes accurately and adapt to menu changes quickly Excellent understanding of food safety protocols and sanitation standards Experience with catering services and food service operations is desirable Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth kitchen operations Embark on a culinary adventure with us!
