Cook - The Trillium Tysons
POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals that meet or exceed the hospitality and service standards of The Trillium Tysons community. This position supports the Dining Services program by preparing menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring meals are delivered on time, and maintaining exceptional food quality and presentation standards. The Cook must be able to effectively manage food production and kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Prepare meals and food items according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines. Coordinate food preparation and meal production to ensure timely service during scheduled dining hours. Prepare and accommodate special dietary and therapeutic meal requirements as directed by resident menus and care plans. Monitor food quality, taste, appearance, and temperature to ensure all standards are consistently maintained. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and personal hygiene in accordance with health department regulations. Assist with the orientation and training of new kitchen staff members. Follow all safety, sanitation, and loss prevention procedures. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food handling regulations. Assist with maintaining required documentation, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and taste panel records. Support overall kitchen operations and teamwork to provide an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef, Kitchen Manager, or community leadership team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience Minimum of two (2) years of cooking experience preparing a full range of menu items in a restaurant, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living environment preferred. Experience preparing therapeutic, modified, or special diets preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards. Excellent teamwork, organization, and time management skills. Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude when interacting with residents, families, guests, and team members.
