Job Description

Line Cook | Ancora Cafe & Bakery We are looking for cooks that like to be involved with all facets of the kitchen. At Ancora, we are a small team. Our cooks work the line, prep food, help create specials, and work closely with all team members to make sure our fast paced cafe is operating safely and smoothly. Everyone shares duties, including dishes. Strong communication and respect for all team members and customers is required.

We are a well-established, woman owned, Madison cafe that specializes in all things brunch, and are open 7 days per week. We take great pride in our business and the relationships we have built with our customers and staff over the years. Our customers have come to expect speedy, consistent, and delicious products from us, and that is what we always aim to deliver. Our staff is a tight knit family, who treats each other with respect and kindness. We have NO tolerance for bullying or any form of abuse. Benefits Health, Dental, and Vision insurance available (60% employer paid insurance for the individual) Hours worked New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day receive 1.5x pay. Free meal + drinks during shift 50% off all food and drink when not on shift 30% off merchandise and alcohol Free 1lb of beans per month 4% 401k Match available to employees after one year of employment and 1000 hours worked. Annual performance review with potential for a pay raise All team members accrue 0.02 hours of PTO for every hour clocked in. Unused PTO is paid out.
Example:
If you work exactly 40 hours per week for an entire calendar year, you will have accrued 40 hours of
PTO Compensation Base Pay:
$15 to $17/hr (DOE) +
Tips:
Additional $5 to $8+/hr on average
Training Pay:
Base Pay | Applies during the training period and all team meetings
Guaranteed Wage:
$21/hr | If your combined base pay + tips fall below $21/hr, Ancora will make up the difference. Line Cook Responsibilities Prepare all food items as directed in a timely and sanitary manner Follow recipes and plate according to Ancora standards Use all kitchen equipment properly and safely, always reporting any issues promptly Wash and sanitize dishes while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient dish area Keep workstation clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment Monitor and replenish ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth and uninterrupted service Follow all health department regulations and food safety practices at all times Be available and able to work shifts with early morning start times, as well as at least 1 weekend day per week.

6a-2a, 8a-4p, or 12p-8p Required Skills Ability to work on your feet for eight hours a day Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time on a regular basis 1 year previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen strongly preferred Proficient knife skills are a plus High level of professionalism and respect for teammates and customers Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Ability to accurately read and execute written recipes, and scale recipes up or down as needed Proper knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards Possess excellent organizational and verbal communication skills

Pay:
$21.00 - $25.00 per hour
