THE MISSION
of The Gathering is to provide meals and associated services or programs to those who would otherwise go hungry or without.

  • Ascension Dinner Program General Description:
    The assistant cook is responsible for helping prepare and serve
  • nutritiously satisfying dinners for 250
  • 350 guests Monday and Wednesday at our Ascension meal site. The work is completed each day with the assistance of a team of volunteers. This is a part-time position Monday and Wednesday, 12:30 pm

Dinner Coordinator/Meal Program Manager Skills:
Understanding and commitment to The Gathering's mission, and its work as a Volunteer-based organization Able to work as part of a team (staff and volunteers) in a busy kitchen environment Experience in a commercial kitchen Experience working in a fast-paced environment Able to read and follow standardized recipes Ability to cook a variety of foods for large groups Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures Familiarity with and ability to practice safe food handling procedures
Duties:
Begin dinner preparation and cooking at 12:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday Measuring and assemble ingredients for menu items Work in and assist in the kitchen during mealtime Assist with kitchen cleanup. Assist with the accurate food inventories Assist with properly store and label/date food items at appropriate temperatures Assist with rotating stock items as per established procedures Assist with restocking kitchen for subsequent shifts Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift Other duties as assigned Understanding and commitment to The Gathering's mission, and its work as a volunteer-based organization .
Requirements:
High school diploma/GED preferred 2+ years' experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry preferred ServeSafe Certification preferred/willing to become certified Able to stand for long periods of time Able to lift 25 pounds Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Able to follow directions well Good organizational skills Flexibility Dependability No eating during shift
Wages & Benefits:
