To provide nutritious meals and snacks to residents following a person-centered approach. Treats residents with respect and dignity, recognizes individual needs and encourages independence. Promote a homelike atmosphere throughout the residence. All positions are awake staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities are the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Plan out Weekly meals to meet all resident needs.
Focusing on daily:
Meal prep and service to ensure all residents are getting specified diet needs daily. 2. Create a calendar weekly to be posted in the building and handed out to all residents and family upon request. Daily posting should be done first thing in the morning on white board. 3. Order food to ensure proper items are in building that are needed.
Including but not limited to:
Meals, snack options, diet alternatives and meal alternatives. 4. Maintain record of food temps and corrections done for food safety. 5. Maintain a record of daily fridge and freezer temps along with any corrections for food safety. 6. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment for all residents. Performs general housekeeping for common areas and cleans up after meal service provided. 7. Is proactive in providing administrator/ director with needs associated with dinning. 8. Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and response promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance. This includes telephone calls, resident requests, and requests from family and friends. 9. Participates and encourages teamwork through cooperative interaction 10. Ensures all food/ drinks are labeled and dated correctly. Properly disposes of any food past expiration date. Company wide
Responsibilities:
1. Sustains the Cardinal Ridge Residential Care mission through a daily working commitment to its principles of excellence, trust, response, ownership, honesty, motivation, creativity, detail, responsibility and fun. 2. Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, resident families, visitors and staff. 3. Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, employee, residence, company information and records. 4. Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits. 5. Complies with attendance policy. 6. Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene, and appropriate attire. 7. Participates in training, inservices and attends meetings as required. 8. Alert Administrator. Director of any caregiver misconduct, abuse or neglect of residents. 9. Accept additional duties delegated by administrator/ director.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six month related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain license currency. Knowledge of dementia particularly of the Alzheimer's type is helpful.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, residents families and other employees of the company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
•Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Uses good judgment in emergency situations, and gets help when needed.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
•Basic CPR/First aid training, Fire safety training, Medication Administration training, participate in in-service sessions, and medication assistance training course and test.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•The physical demands here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. A good sense of smell is required to keep our residents and room's odor free. WORK ENVIRONMENT-The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic or caustic chemical. The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare is provided to the frail elderly. The noise level is usually moderate.
