About the job: The
PREP+DISH
position is the backbone of the kitchen. This role is a hybrid job that requires the skills to perform simple food preparation techniques as well as keeping the dish area tidy and organized, working fast, and returning clean dishes to their proper storage area in a timely manner. Strong candidates must be ready to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment, while always keeping the Company's high standards of quality, cleanliness, and efficiency in mind. This position requires physical endurance, as well as mental determination in order to meet the standards of the restaurant and ensure guest satisfaction. This individual will report to the Executive Chef and will play a key role in driving the company's high-volume needs and expectations. Our dishwashers will also execute exceptional customer service skills to all applicable company associates. They are expected to uphold Harland Brewing Co.'s Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, Mission, and Values in every aspect of their duties Your day-to-day: Setting up the dish area for the day: Ensuring water temperature and chemical levels are at safe food safety standards. Maintaining a safe and tidy dish pit area. Restocking towels Retrieving bus tubs for washing Prepare food; sauces, par-cooked meats and vegetables, etc, with the Executive Chefs direction Keep a safe and sanitary work environment when food handling throughout all tasks Keep a safe and sanitary work environment when handling chemicals throughout all tasks Communicate promptly and clearly with Kitchen Management regarding product concerns, malfunctioning equipment, and outages. Leaving the dish pit clean and, if closing, dry at the end of the day. All Kitchen Staff are expected to help in dish area as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and alternative work weeks We have openings for both full-time and part-time availability Ability to work 8 hour shifts may be required Must be a team player who can maintain a positive, professional approach with team members and customers Ability to work well following verbal instructions, be an active listener, recall and complete tasks given spoken commands. Patience, perseverance, and tact are required in dealing with high-demand, high-stress moments. Basic knowledge of kitchen tools/utensils, and proper food handling procedures An eagerness and passion to learn new tasks and reach new levels in the kitchen environment. Previous cooking experience and/or culinary school background SERV Safe Certification An unwavering desire to be positive, with a can-do attitude!
Physical Requirements:
A dishwasher will be in contact with a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including but not limited to: chef knives, food processor attachments, blenders, hot pans, dining utensils, etc. Must be thorough in cleaning dishes properly and thoroughly. Various chemicals are used in the dish pit area and gloves will be required for handling. Kitchen flooring may become slippery from moisture and grease; this job requires constant attention to hazards and safety concerns. Must be able to take out trash, move and unload inventory and deliveries.
