Summary Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Stewarding department. Direct and assist Stewards to make clean-up more efficient. Ensure water temperature and chemical levels are appropriate for cleaning and documented. Assist with Banquet plate-ups. Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed. Provide cooks with needed items. Support banquets and restaurants by transporting and ensuring adequate stock. Return cleaned items to proper locations and keep consistency in all aspects. This position pays $24.30/hour. Education/Experience Minimum 3 years experience in a hotel or restaurant or kitchen back-of-house operation with 1 year of steward experience. Work Hours Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs. Scheduling includes holidays, nights, and weekends depending on hotel events and functions. Job Requirements Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel. Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision. Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task efficiently. Must be able to speak, understand, and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Requires effective communication skills. Must have the ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs., including, but not limited to, pots and pans and trays of food or food items, on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required cleaning chemicals. Subject to moderate to loud noise conditions of a busy kitchen. Supervises all job duties to ensure they are being completed safely. Must project confidence, fair treatment, and respect to all your employees at all times. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the steward department. Counsels, guides, and instructs personnel on the proper performance of their duties. Actively involved in the completion of all daily tasks and duties. Administers and maintains all controls for company assets. Assist management in training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor based on Health Department and internal standards. Acts as a role model to all employees. Ensure restaurant and banquet kitchens have the requisite amounts of the above to properly open their shifts and that there are sufficient Queen Marys and racks in which to place dirty dishes, silver, pots, and pans. Responsible for the proper sanitation and cleanliness of all kitchens and food preparation areas, including ovens, grills, stoves, hoods, fryers, preparation slicers, steam kettles, tables, and floors. Follow all food safety and cleanliness standards while performing job duties. Follow all chemical safety standards while performing job duties. Ensures associates have supplies, equipment, tools, and uniforms necessary to perform their jobs. Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors. Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with hotel policies and standard operating procedures. Train and develop associates on 4 Keys service standards, technical skills, standard operation procedures, and safety standards. Ensure all associates are safety conscious and trained in safe work practices. Ensure associates exceed service and cleanliness standards. Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations. Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.
