Kitchen Porter (Dishwasher)

Bagel Hound is a high-volume bakery and production kitchen specializing in handcrafted, gourmet bagels and quality baked goods. Every role within our operation is crucial to our success, and none more so than our Kitchen Porter (Dishwasher).
Position Summary:
As a Kitchen Porter (Dishwasher) at Bagel Hound, you are a key member of our kitchen support team. While our dish station operates at a different pace from a traditional a la carte restaurant, your contribution is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our bakery production area. You'll be responsible for cleaning large quantities of tools and equipment, supporting the kitchen team, and maintaining high sanitation standards throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing & Equipment Maintenance Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize large volumes of baking tools and equipment, including sheet trays, hotel pans, mixing bowls, speed racks, bus tubs, and utensils. Perform hand-washing of delicate or oversized items that require extra care, and ensure all items are properly washed, rinsed, dried, and stored according to food safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked dishwashing station throughout the shift. Manage your time to complete all daily cleaning tasks and projects. Undertake weekly regular deep-cleaning projects, including ovens, storage areas, baking equipment, external spaces, and refrigerators, etc. Ensure the kitchen team has a continuous supply of clean tools, trays, and utensils during peak hours. Organize clean equipment for easy access and rapid turnaround. Assist with prep and production when needed. Kitchen & Facility Cleaning Refill soap, sanitizer, and paper towel dispensers to maintain hygiene standards. Assist the kitchen team in cleaning prep stations, tables, mixers, oven tops, walk-in refrigerators, freezers, shelves, and other production equipment. Sweep and mop floors regularly, especially following spills or equipment use. Empty trash and recycling bins promptly and responsibly; clean and sanitize bins and mop buckets regularly. Maintain the cleanliness of the back-of-house and common areas, ensuring all floors are free of debris and food waste. Teamwork & Support Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, organizing ingredients and supplies as directed Support kitchen and production staff with miscellaneous cleaning or prep support tasks. Help clean and maintain external work areas, such as the kitchen entrance, walkways, and alleyway, before and after opening and closing. Monitor cleaning supply levels and notify supervisors when restocking is needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Able to communicate in and understand the English language. Prior experience in a commercial kitchen or bakery is preferred but not required; we are willing to train motivated individuals. Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness. Ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely. Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and develop new skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
