Steward, The Department at Hudsons

Description Stewards will be responsible for collecting used dishes, plates, equipment and utensils, loading dish machine and stacking washed items appropriately. In addition, collecting garbage, sweeping, mopping and upkeep of the overall cleanliness of the facility inside and out. Key Responsibilities Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas Load and unload dishwashing machine Assist with banquet plating and food running as applicable Wash specific items by name (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china) Store clean pots, pans, dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately and safely Remove garbage regularly Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor, walls, doors and handles Routine cleaning of cargo equipment (Speed Racks, Carts, Metro Racks) Communicate regularly and clearly with the Stewarding Manager as needed Cleaning and upkeep of the dumpster area and storage rooms Duties subject to change based on nature of business Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Positive attitude. Requires lifting from 25-50 pounds. Willingness to work in hot, humid environment and on your feet for 8-hour shifts (Meals and Breaks will be provided). Its name is directly inspired by the J.L Hudson's Department Store, and calls to the purpose of the iconic landmark's existence. Its brand, seen through the visual elements of logos, room names, colors and more, was created with a timeless, retro feel reminiscent of the details and history of Hudson's. Though a change in architecture, technology and design has occurred, the new Hudson's development was created with a similar intention as the old: a place where Detroiters and visitors around the world gathered. Out of the entirety of the Hudson's development, The Department is the pinnacle of retaining this sense of sophisticated place and special gather.
