Summary:
Cleans and sanitizes dishes, cooking pots and utensils, and other food service equipment for all food outlets. The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.
Essential Job Functions:
Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on a conveyor to the dishwashing machine; operates dish machine. Washes pots, pans, and trays. Washes and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and cutting boards. Sweeps and mops floors; segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers. Cleans and sorts recyclable materials. Transports supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. Assists with banquet set up, vegetable preparation, and other kitchen duties. Requisitions cleaning supplies and materials.

Required Knowledge of:
Principles, practices, and processes of safe food handling and safe work practices. Tools, materials, and equipment used in cleaning and sanitizing equipment and utensils used in food preparation and service.
Required Skill in:
Recognizing and correcting situations that is unhealthy or may lead to poor customer service. Monitoring and providing customer service. Working safely. Communicating orally. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and three (3) months related work experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Low-security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission. State of Oregon Food Handler's Certificate. Must be at least 16 years of age. Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of or receive, certain health vaccinations.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a food service environment, with routine exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or tobacco smoke, and occasional exposure to extreme cold or heat and potentially toxic or caustic chemicals. Subject to high levels of noise. Work is subject to frequent standing and walking, with occasional sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is subject to frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Equipment and Tools Utilized:
Equipment utilized includes a personal computer, standard office equipment, equipment used in the cleaning and sanitizing of food service, and preparation equipment including carts, bus tubs, industrial spray arms and dish machines, telephone, and two-way radios.
