Job Description

We are looking for people to join our team! Stewards work in the heart of the house, supporting our cooks and service staff. Their duties include receiving and putting away deliveries, maintaining cleanliness within the kitchen, washing, sorting, and organizing flatware, china, pots and pans, and some minor prep work. This job is a great stepping stone to greater opportunities for individuals who show themselves to be hard working, diligent and eager to learn and improve. He or she achieves this through effective dishwashing practices, and an attention to detail as to where smallwares, flatware, drinkware, and servingware go after it has been properly cleaned and sanitized. A steward is also responsible for acting as a receiving agent for deliveries, where he or she will check the accuracy of the delivery, and then quickly and efficiently store it appropriately. Financial Responsibilities Knows and complies consistently with standard operating procedures, kitchen rules, and policies Uses dishwashing chemicals and equipment safely in accordance with training and manufacturers instructions to avoid injury. Constantly uses safe and hygienic food handling practices to avoid cross contamination. Correctly stocks and stores food deliveries in accordance with procedures to avoid spoilage, loss, or over ordering Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of cleanliness in dish area Tracks and reports any glassware, flatware, utensil breakage. Team Responsibilities Has a warm and welcoming personality, engages easily, actively connects with others, genuinely caring and compassionate, visibly demonstrates desire to understand others, creates confidence and trust with others Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service to team members Maintains a clean, safe and hazard free work environment for other team members and guests Guest Experience Works closely with other departments to achieve maximum guest satisfaction Stewards support the cooks, servers, and banquet staff who directly work with the guest Safety Awareness Maintains by adhering to stated safety policies, responsible to report all accidents immediately. Supports all safety programs. Proceeds with caution when walking on slippery floors and in congested areas. Ensures that proper safety instructions are given before operating any equipment. Properly uses equipment provided by hotel so we eliminate injuries and prevent accidents Uses Personal Protective Equipment as specified during training. Accountability This position reports directly to the Executive chef Qualifications A willingness to show up when scheduled, to do the work that is expected. Physical Requirements While performing the requirements of this job, the associate is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk and hear. Requires the associate to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The associate is required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Works with warewashing equipment including hot steam, hot grease, and knives.
