Line Cook/Prep Cook/Dishwasher Wholehearted Senior Living @Castle Hills San Antonio, TX Job Details Full-time From $15 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Flexible schedule Qualifications Food handling Teamwork Dishwashing High school diploma or GED Food & beverage industry Resident rapport building Full Job Description The Line Cook/Aid assists with meal preparation, service, and kitchen sanitation to ensure residents receive safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals. This role supports the cook and dietary team in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Food Preparation & Service Assist the cook with basic food preparation (cutting, measuring, portioning). Prepare beverages, snacks, and simple menu items as directed. Portion and plate meals according to dietary requirements and resident preferences. Deliver meals to dining areas and support meal service. Assist with room trays as needed. Sanitation & Cleaning Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and maintain dishwashing area. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and storage areas. Follow all infection control, food safety, and sanitation procedures (including HHSC requirements). Properly store food, label leftovers, and monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures. Take out trash and maintain cleanliness in the dining and kitchen area. Resident Care & Interaction Provide friendly, respectful service to all residents. Ensure meals accommodate diets such as regular, mechanical soft, pureed, low sodium, diabetic, etc. Report resident meal issues (poor intake, special requests, allergies). Compliance & Safety Follow all Texas ALF food handling and sanitation regulations. Attend required training in food safety, emergency preparedness, and facility protocols. Ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment. Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or supply needs to management. Teamwork & Support Assist the cook and dietary manager with daily tasks. Help prep for special events, holidays, and catering needs within the community. Maintain organized storage areas, stock rotation, and supply checks. Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience in food service, kitchen work, or senior living preferred but not required. Ability to read and follow recipes, portion instructions, and diet cards. Strong work ethic, dependability, and positive attitude. Must be able to pass a background check and complete required ALF training (food safety, abuse/neglect, etc.). Must be able to communicate clearly and work well with residents and staff.
