Job Description

General Job Brief This position supports the Firestorm Recreation Center (FRC) by monitoring attendance, ensuring safety, maintaining cleanliness, and providing hospitable service to guests. The role involves executing processes and procedures for FRC maintenance, completing regular checklists as outlined by the Director, and undertaking additional projects as assigned. This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities Assists the Director of Campus Recreation in the following areas: Monitor attendance by greeting guests warmly, checking them in using the scanning system, and ensuring only authorized individuals access the facility. Maintain safety by monitoring guest adherence to rules (e.g., proper equipment use, appropriate attire), reporting hazards, and following emergency protocols. Ensure cleanliness by wiping down equipment, organizing weights, tidying common areas, and performing restroom checks as needed. Provide hospitality through friendly interactions, assisting guests with inquiries, and resolving minor conflicts politely. Complete assigned shift tasks, including setup and teardown for FRC events and submission of incident reports via the "FRC Incident Report Form". Collaborate with Game Operations to assist with game day setup for events as needed. Other Duties and Responsibilities Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, will be expected. Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes, and an active Christian faith. Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff. The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings. Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually. Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics Effective communication and customer service skills. Ability to complete tasks punctually and work autonomously with accountability. Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and hospitality as core FRC values. Professionalism in adhering to dress code (ACU shirt, closed-toe athletic shoes, appropriate pants/shorts) and adhering to the personal device policy in the FRC Student Worker Training Manual. Education and Experience Must be a full-time ACU student in good academic, financial, and conduct standing. Must meet all other requirements of the type of position, if applicable. Demonstrated connection to the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University Must Complete a FAFSA Working Conditions General athletics/sport environment Time Required FRC Operating Hours and Calendar 6-15 hours per week as assigned by your supervisor Fair Labor Standards Act This position is considered to be part-time, non-exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
