Full Job Description Position Title:
Entertainment Usher Rate of Pay:
$17.75 per hour
Position Purpose:
Assists guests at OC Fair's Action Sports Arena, The Hangar, Pacific Amphitheatre and Pig Races as they enter the seating areas and other areas of the facility. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 122 days.
Schedule:
OC Fair concert events will begin in May and potentially continue through September, with the majority of events scheduled in July and August. During the annual OC Fair (July 17 - August 16), concerts are held Wednesday through Sunday. Shifts are typically from 5pm - 11pm. Applicants are required to be fully available and commit to working all concerts during the OC Fair through the end of the concert season. Scheduling is based on the concert event schedule and is subject to change depending on the approved dates of our 2026 concert events.
Essential Functions:
Assisting guests in finding their seats. Directing guests to restrooms, concessions and other areas of the venue. Answering any questions guests might have about the venue or the event. Monitoring the crowd for any potential safety concerns and reporting them to appropriate personnel. Assist in ensuring the venue is clean before and during the events. Assisting with other duties as assigned by leadership. This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Excellent customer service skills. Able to work in a fast-paced, loud environment. Commit to working all performance events when scheduled. Be prepared to work at whichever venue is assigned. Able to stand for extended periods. Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Able to work well in a team environment and to support co-workers. Must be able to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair, and possible post-fair concerts. Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs. Preferences:
Experience working face-to-face with customers.

The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to direct guests, complete paperwork, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have good vision and be able to work in dark environments. Must be able hear and speak clearly in high-volume environments. Ascend and descend steps quickly and frequently.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when outdoors or in performance areas, and the employee must be able to tolerate loud music. Will work mostly outdoors and at times indoors, depending on venue format. Will be required to work in all weather conditions. The light level in the work environment can be low during event performances.

Will potentially work in a dusty environment that may include auto exhaust and other irritants.
