Golf Course Starter Marshal (Seasonal)
Pay Rate:
$16.00/ per hour
Job Summary:
The Starter/Marshal is responsible for coordinating daily golf operations at the first tee and throughout the course to ensure an exceptional guest experience. This role promotes adherence to club policies, maintains pace of play, and supports overall course operations through proactive guest engagement and communication. What you will be doing:
Prepare and organize all necessary supplies, materials, and equipment prior to the first scheduled tee time. Welcome and assist golfers in a professional, friendly, and service-oriented manner. Coordinate and organize starting times to ensure efficient pace of play. Verify that all applicable fees have been paid and recorded accurately. Ensure all players are properly attired in accordance with club dress code and equipped for play. Maintain and monitor tee sheets, including updates and changes communicated to Golf Operations. Utilize technology (including iPads and tee sheet management systems) to manage tee times, track player information, and communicate effectively with staff. Communicate course rules, local regulations, expected pace of play, and course conditions to all golfers. Maintain consistent radio and/or telephone communication with the golf operation team. Monitor play on the course to ensure adherence to pace-of-play standards and club policies Provide assistance in the event of injuries, health concerns, or on-course issues. Record and report golf car usage and return all equipment at the end of the shift. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the starter building and surrounding areas. Observe course conditions for safety hazards, debris, or maintenance needs and report accordingly. Assist with tournaments and group events, including player staging, signage placement, and shuttle support. Escort players to appropriate holes during shotgun starts when necessary. Represent the club with a high level of professionalism at all times. What we are looking for:
High school diploma or GED required; previous customer service or golf operations experience preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to provide excellent guest service. Comfortable using technology including iPads and tee sheet systems. Ability to follow procedures and exercise sound judgement. Availability to work a minimum of three (3) days per week, including weekends and holidays as required by operational needs. Flexibility to work varied schedules, including peak play periods and special events.
