Job Description

Position Overview Pool Staff serve as attendants responsible for the daily operation, cleanliness, and member service functions of the pool facilities. This position is not a lifeguard role. Pool Staff ensure the pool facility is clean, orderly, properly monitored, and operating in accordance with established safety and operational standards. Reporting Relationship Pool Staff report directly to the Chief Engineer and follow direction from on-site management as required. Authority and Role Expectations Pool Staff are responsible for monitoring pool operations, enforcing facility rules, and maintaining a safe environment. This role does not include lifeguard duties and does not involve water rescues beyond basic life-safety response until emergency services arrive. Pool Staff may close the pool immediately for safety, weather, contamination, or operational concerns. Core Responsibilities Monitor pool operations and facility conditions Ensure cleanliness and organization of pool and locker room areas Enforce pool rules and member conduct standards Provide basic member assistance and information Operational Duties and Responsibilities Monitor pool chemical readings and report concerns to the Pool Coordinator Maintain cleanliness of pool decks, locker rooms, and common areas Sell approved items to members and charge member accounts Ensure locker rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly Close the pool immediately for safety, weather, or contamination issues Remove patrons from the pool area when required for safety Escalate noncompliance or incidents to Security or Management Complete incident and maintenance reports as required Safety, Use of Force, and Restrictions Pool Staff are not lifeguards and are not authorized to perform rescues except where absolutely necessary to prevent immediate loss of life. Physical contact with patrons is prohibited except in true life-safety emergencies. All incidents are to be escalated to Security, Management, or emergency services. Certifications and Training CPR / First Aid (encouraged) Incident Reporting Emergency Response Decision-Making Scope Authorized to make immediate operational and safety decisions related to pool operations, including temporary closures and removal of patrons for safety reasons. Does not administer discipline. Work Environment and Expectations Indoor and outdoor pool environments Exposure to pool chemicals and humidity Evening, weekend, and holiday work required
