Job Description

Summary Under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director, the Recreation Attendant provides administrative and clerical support to the Parks & Recreation department of the Borough of Phoenixville. The typical working hours are Monday through Thursday from 4:30PM to 9:30PM and every other Saturday from 8:45AM-2:00PM. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Two years related job experience preferred Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of public recreation Ability to confront and resolve conflicts tactfully Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, program participants, Borough residents, and representatives of other governmental and quasi-governmental agencies Licenses/Certifications/Clearance Requirements Possession of a valid PA drivers license Clean PA state criminal background check, Department of Human Services FBI fingerprinting clearance, and PA child abuse history clearance (must be renewed every 60 months) Current CPR certification Mandated Reporter training
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provided general administrative support including but not limited to typing, photocopying, processing mail, sending email/faxes, filing, and transcribing Composes and types correspondence and other records Answers and screens Recreation Department phone calls Greets visitors Attends and supervises various programs as assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director Independently covers recreation office, supervises building as needed Interprets the established guidelines and policies of the Parks & Recreation Department to personnel and the general public Ensures that all program facilities are maintained in a reasonable and safe condition, performing minor repair as needed Assists in the preparation of events including coordinating and arranging events, preparing agendas, and reserving/preparing facilities Provides data entry support as needed including purchase orders, league records, and department reports Assists in the composition and preparation of the department newsletter Performs other duties as assigned Physical Requirements Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds in weight Ability to see, read, print, and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols both large and small Ability to climb stairs or step ladders Ability to hear normal conversations and communicate clearly, both orally and written Ability to work in adverse environmental weather conditions (day or night) Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking Ability to sit, stand, or walk for periods longer than 30 minutes
