  • Assists in planning and implementing a comprehensive, sports program, for active and retired military, authorized civilians, contractors, and dependents. Program includes self-directed recreional sports, and intramural and/or extramural recreional sports.
  • Inspects and maintains multiple indoor and outdoor hletic facilities, equipment, and supplies used for hletic activities, events and programs.
  • Plans, organizes and conducts sports specific conditioning sessions, clinics, or seminars to train prons.
  • Ensures the installion's recreional sports program is diverse and inclusive, in an effort to accommode various prons and levels of competition.
  • Develops and revises program events, tournaments and leagues to provide an inclusive program.
  • Crees an environment th educes and promotes sportsmanship and participion in recreional activities, in addition to providing a program in which risks are minimized.
  • Develops and revises intramural sports rules to ensure they remain current with new governing body rules, rule applicions and officiing mechanics.
  • Officies or keeps score for offered hletic programs.
  • Makes and/or coordines repairs of hletic equipment.
  • Serves as the subject mter expert on recreional sports for the installion.
  • Plans and coordines the details of recurring and non-recurring activities, special events and joint community undertakings within the assigned program(s) to make maximum use of resources, consistent with military mission and with the principles of Morale, Welfare and Recreion (MWR) program development.
  • Assists in projecting income derived from fees and charges. Monitors inventories, cost controls, pron counts and maintains reled records and reports.
  • Seeks ways to directly connect departmental plans to current
CNIC, MWR
priorities including recruitment and retention.
  • Coordines program efforts with other Division team members.
  • Works closely with other MWR departmental personnel in regard to scheduling, supervision, and facility guidelines.
  • Identifies installion and MWR target groups with whom special programs may be cosponsored.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining a comprehensive publicity and marketing plan to include public relion duties (e.g., preparing and distributing flyers, press releases, brochures, etc.).
  • Arranges for equipment, supplies and services needed to accomplish scheduled programs and makes recommendions for improvements.
  • Ensures programs, operions, and use of equipment are conducted within all prescribed sanition, and health and safety regulions, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assists in implementing an effective written safety/risk management plan and procedures for emergency care for participants; schedules training/certificion classes in First Aid/CPR training for approprie personnel.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections of the facilities, and reports concerns to the immedie supervisor.
  • Prepares training manuals/merial, opering manuals, and conducts staff meetings and training.
  • Schedules recreion facilities and supervises condition of facilities.
  • Provides clerical support, program registrion, answers telephones, and maintains correspondence with other divisions or agencies; responds to public inquiries about the facility.
  • Assists with reservions, contracts, and access list for various fitness, sports, and aquics facilities.
  • Directs work to be accomplished by staff.
  • Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and staff capabilities.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews of staff.
  • Participes in section staffing decisions.
  • Ensures staff receive proper training to fulfill requirements of their positions.
  • Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes approprie, corrective action(s) as necessary.

  • Knowledge th enables the employee to competently and independently carry out sports programs through the proper applicion of principles, concepts and techniques of recreion to specific needs of the community to be served.
  • Knowledge of Department of War (DoW), Department of the Navy (DON) and CNIC policies and procedures governing recreional activity certificions.
  • Knowledge of both NAF, and appropried fund (APF) funding, government procurement procedures, cash handling procedures, fiscal, personnel, merial and cash management.
  • Knowledge of various specialty equipment, both resale and fixed assets to ensure quality merial exists to enhance programs.
  • Knowledge of the physical and psychological factors th impact training, performance and recovery of individuals and team sports.
  • Knowledge of the governing body rules for offered hletic events.
  • Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive sports program th includes a variety of fitness and/or aquics activities and/or individual and team sports which meets the needs of the participing community.
  • Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing available community resources.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other opering systems used in the program area.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports reled to work within the Branch.
  • Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties.
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentions and/or training.
  • Ability to communice effectively both orally and in writing.
Educion The Sports Program Manager is a supervisory position responsible for development and oversight of sports programming. While elements (a) through (c) are preferred, a combinion of two of these elements may sufficiently qualify an individual to perform their duties as program director: a) a four-year degree in sports administrion or a reled field; b) professional certificion from a sport's governing body; and c) least three years of experience in the industry. Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain the following within 90 days of hire: .
