This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for lifeguard oversight, training and safety compliance, and active management of pool chemistry and systems. This is not a standard lifeguard position. The ideal candidate brings both strong leadership presence on deck and real operational experience with pool systems and water quality. This position is seasonal, with the opportunity to extend into winter operations as we expand our hot springs programming. What You'll Do Lead the Team Supervise lifeguards and Lead Guards, ensuring high standards of safety and professionalism Provide real-time coaching, direction, and accountability Serve as the lead responder for incidents and escalations Own Staffing & Scheduling Build and manage schedules to ensure full coverage Coordinate rotations, breaks, and zone assignments Manage call-outs and maintain consistent staffing levels Run Pool Operations Actively manage pool chemistry, including chlorine, pH, and alkalinity Perform water testing and maintain accurate logs Monitor and adjust automated chemical systems Troubleshoot water quality and operational issues Coordinate with maintenance on pumps, filters, heaters, and circulation systems Train & Develop Staff Lead and schedule regular in-service trainings and safety drills Conduct skills evaluations and scenario-based training Ensure all certifications remain current and staff maintain readiness Identify performance gaps and provide coaching and retraining as needed Support onboarding and development of team members Manage the Deck Ensure constant, effective surveillance coverage Keep staff engaged in both primary and secondary duties Maintain a strong, visible leadership presence Our Pool Environment This role operates in a unique setting that requires a high level of operational awareness: High guest volume during peak season Mineral-rich, spring-fed water requiring careful chemistry management Historic resort environment with elevated guest expectations What We're Looking For 5+ years of lifeguarding experience 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience CPO certification preferred; candidates with strong hands-on pool operations experience or the ability to quickly obtain certification will be prioritized Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) certification preferred, or experience leading lifeguard trainings and in-service drills Strong leadership, communication, and accountability Ability to confidently manage both people and operations Schedule & Availability Seasonal, full-time during May-September Availability for weekends, holidays, and peak periods (including Fourth of July) Opportunity to continue into extended winter operations (November-March) Benefits This position is classified as seasonal. However, employees who transition into extended-season operations and maintain full-time status may become eligible for benefits in accordance with company policy, including eligibility after 60 days of qualifying employment. Pay:
$26.00 - $32.00 per hour Application Question(s): Have you led or been responsible for planning and running lifeguard in-service trainings? Are you available to work full-time from May through September, including weekends and holidays, with potential to continue into November-March? Do you currently hold a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification? and/or Do you have hands-on experience managing pool chemistry (testing, adjusting chlorine/pH, troubleshooting water quality issues)?
