Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday (2 camp weeks: June 1st
  • June 5th and July 13th
  • July 17th)
Hours:
7:30 AM
  • 2:00
PM Compensation Hourly Rate:
$15
  • 18 per hour, dependent on experience Approximately 25-30 hours per week during camp weeks Position Summary Play Academy is seeking a highly organized, energetic, and experienced Camp Director to oversee the planning, execution, and day-to-day operations of our summer camp program.
This individual will lead camp staff, ensure a safe and engaging environment for campers, and maintain a high standard of program quality, safety, and communication with families and the community. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of daily camp operations, including schedules, activities, and staffing Lead, train, and support camp counselors and staff to ensure high-quality program delivery Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive experience of all campers at all times Manage camper attendance, behavior support, and parent communication Monitor program quality and implement improvements as needed Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and community standards Provide regular updates to Play Academy leadership regarding operations and incidents Represent Play Academy professionally in all interactions with families, staff, and community partners Independent Contractor Status (1099) This position is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor Responsible for taxes, insurance, and compliance as applicable Flexible schedule required during camp hours Play Academy is committed to equal opportunity employment and values the diversity and unique contributions of all our team members. Prior experience in camp leadership, recreation management, or youth programming required Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to manage staff and daily operations independently CPR/AED Certification required prior to camp start (Lifeguard Certification preferred) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm in fast-paced environments Experience with youth development and age-appropriate programming preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lead and supervise physical activities and remain active throughout the camp day Ability to lift light equipment and manage supplies as needed Ability to respond quickly in emergency or high-activity situations
