Job Description
Position Summary The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and operation of the community center's aquatic programs. This includes supervising pool operations, lifeguard staff and swim lesson programming. The Aquatics Coordinator ensures a safe, engaging, and high-quality aquatic environment for participants of all ages. Key Responsibilities Facility & Pool Operations Oversee operations of the pool, including scheduling and communication with maintenance staff on relevant issues. Ensure compliance with all local and state health and safety regulations Collaborate with Pearce Maintenance staff on regular safety checks and maintaining proper chemical balance. Manage pool schedules, including open swim, lessons, rentals, and team use Staff Supervision Hire, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards and swim instructors Conduct regular staff meetings and in-service trainings Ensure all staff maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, etc.) Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance evaluations Swim Lessons Program Develop, implement, and oversee swim lesson programs for all skill levels Assign instructors and manage class schedules Ensure high-quality instruction and positive participant experiences Communicate with parents regarding progress, concerns, and program offerings Recruit/maintain relationships with the private lesson instructors and working closely with them on new clients and maintaining the waitlist in a timely fashion. Swim Club Collaboration Support swim club coaches and work collaboratively as needed Serve as liaison between coaches, families, and administration Support a positive and inclusive team environment Safety & Risk Management Enforce all pool rules and safety protocols Respond to and document incidents and accidents Ensure emergency action plans are current and practiced regularly Maintain accurate records and reports Customer Service & Community Engagement Provide excellent customer service to members, participants, and families Address questions, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner Promote aquatics programs through community outreach and marketing efforts Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere Administrative Duties Manage program registrations, attendance, and reporting Assist with budgeting, purchasing supplies, and tracking expenses Maintain accurate records of certifications, incidents, and program data Qualifications Previous experience in aquatics management, recreation, or related field preferred Current Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain) CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Experience supervising staff and working with youth and families Core hours include current swim lessons Tues/Thurs from 4-7. Occasional, limited hours on weekend may be required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a humid pool environment Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Ability to lift up to 50 pounds if needed Work Environment Indoor pool setting Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on safety and community engagement Join us in making a difference in our community by helping others gain confidence in the water!
