Job Description

The Recreation Manager will direct, manage, supervise, evaluate and coordinate assigned operational components, including staff, all office areas, and meeting/rental rooms of the Administration Building. The Recreation Manager will supervise both staff & contracted custodial service providers. Additionally, the Recreation Manager of Administrative Services will work closely with BREC Finance to prepare, monitoring, and processing invoices. This individual performs professional work in the administration building and is the point of contact for departments working in the building.
Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university
Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university Area of Study (major)
Required:
N/A Preferred:
Recreation Management, Facility Management, Tourism & Hospitality, or closely related field Certification(s)
Required:
Professional membership with LRPA and NRPA; First Aid, CPR & AED certification within 6 months of hire.
Preferred:
CPRP or comparable certification through NRPA. License(s)
Required :
Valid LA driver's license

N/A Years Relevant Work Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in field of event management or office management. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred:
Five (5) or more years of related experience with at least two (2) years of experience in each.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of municipal facility management principles and procedures Knowledge of planning, scheduling, administering, and evaluating the effectiveness of recreation programs and operations Knowledge of basic math for budgeting /financial reports, including payroll Knowledge of general office practices and skills in the use of various software applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Office Suites, RecTrac, AssetWorks, HR/Financial software, etc. Knowledge of purchasing procedures Strong leadership and interpersonal skills & ability to relate to others in a positive manner Experience in event planning & hosting, working with outside service providers including caterers, decorators, bartenders, etc. Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills Strong customer service skills and ability to relate effectively with people of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds Ability to create organization systems and operate with a high level of organization & attention to detail. Ability to schedule, coordinate, & monitor service provider contracts Ability to quickly learn BREC policies and procedures, services, and programs Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, staff, volunteers, patrons, BREC officials, community interest groups, and the general public. Administers operation of the administrative office building), schedules housekeeping staff, maintains supplies and equipment, and ensures proper maintenance of property reporting problems to immediate supervisor. Hires, supervises, and trains staff on BREC policies and procedures and site operations. Manages janitorial contracted services providers. Assists with overall Recreation Department service contracts. This includes working with Finance for contract drafting, monitoring, receiving & processing invoices, scheduling renewals, etc. Primary coordinator for all facility rental functions including general promotion of rental services, hosting potential clients, reviewing contract stipulations, collecting deposits, and scheduling the event, staff and security as needed. Assists in daily operations of the facility and functions in any capacity needed to meet operational requirements of the site. Maintains high level of communication as Operations Manager with occupying departments, addressing concerns promptly and being proactive in nature. Regularly communicates with staff, groups, and general public addressing inquires and complaints Coordinates requirements of program/facility with effected BREC departments.

recruits, interviews, hires, counsels, disciplines, evaluates employee performance, and trains staff on job functions; while emphasizing ambassadorship & hospitality, and promoting a team environment. Full-time position; 40 hours a week as assigned, generally; schedule may vary within framework of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
