Club Manager, The Skating Club of Boston
REPORTS TO
Chief Operating Officer SUMMARY:
The Skating Club of Boston is a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating and a primary center for high-performance training and recreational skating in the United States. The Club Manager is responsible for the daily operations, programming, scheduling and overall positive member experience at The Skating Club of Boston. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a leadership role, and the successful candidate will lead the Club office team and its functions to support Club members, tenants and community partners. The Club Manager will be responsible either directly or indirectly, for the team leaders, officer coordinators and Club Associate Manager. The position will work closely with the Membership Services Director and Membership Services Associate Manager in delivering an optimal experience for the Club membership. Remote work is not an option given the on-site requirements of the position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Club Office Leadership and Management
- Prioritize management of the Club office and administration team, including, hiring, training, termination, annual reviews and performance management
- Drive standards for professionalism, communication and customer service
- Foster a responsible, efficient and collaborative office culture
- Partner with the Club leadership team on cross-department organizational planning, strategic priorities and day-to-day execution
- Oversee strategy and coordinate the Club's master schedule including ice usage, member programming, events, training needs and facility utilization
- Curate, communicate and enforce Club policies, operational standards and community expectations to all stake holders to support a safe, professional and welcoming environment
- Help manage internal communication and cross-department coordination Membership and Guest Experience
- Support the Associate Manager in membership administration, service standards, rules and member communications
- Support the Club's Membership Services Director in strategic initiatives for member retention, satisfaction and community engagement initiatives
- Assist the Club's Coaching Director to support coach engagement, communication and professional development initiatives Business Operations and Administration
- Oversee use of ActiveNet as the Club's central operating system, supporting scheduling, membership registration, billing and reporting
- Coordinate front office and facility team scheduling, staffing coordination, facility access and operational logistics, including safety, cleanliness, and presentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and operational planning across Club programming
- Oversee contracts, rentals, billing processes, tenant relationships and A/R management
- Work with the COO to manage risk, insurance policies and security protocols for the building
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising teams in operations, sports or club management, hospitality, nonprofit administration or related fields
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with operational systems, scheduling software, CRM platforms and administrative technology
- Ability to assess operations and implement change management
